Airlines For The Disabled

mobility ideas
Most able bodied people and those without any kind of disability tend to take flying for granted. But the process of arriving at the airport and boarding a flight can produce its own set of problems and obstacles if you are disabled.

That’s why airlines for the disabled are very useful to know about. Up until very recently individual airlines were actually able to refuse you entry onto their flights if you were disabled in some way. Legislation has been put into place that should make it illegal for any disabled person to be turned down for a flight.

But you should still consider looking into the options and facilities that each airline offers before booking a ticket to fly anywhere. There are no specific airlines that cater just for disabled people, but of those that do exist some are better at helping people with disabilities than others.

The best bet is to go to the website of the airline you are thinking of using. Find out what their own policies are and whether they are suitable for your own needs. If in any doubt whatsoever, you can always call them to find out what they can and can’t do in your own particular situation. Think about the airport you will be travelling from too, and find out what you can about it.

Another good idea is to find some forums that are dedicated to disabled people, their lives and anything that is an issue for them. These are great because you can talk with other people who have travelled with individual airlines and see how they got on with them. Airlines for the disabled vary a lot and it is always far better to get the knowledge you need ahead of time, rather than arriving at the airport and being refused the flight you want.

Not all airlines for the disabled provide the services you need. A lot will depend on what disability you have, and how good the individual airline actually is. The more you know up front, the more power you will have on the day.
