Impaired Vision Aids
mobility ideasThere are plenty of impaired vision aids available that aim to make life a lot easier for you, whether you are at home or elsewhere. A great example that is very useful is an alarm clock with large digital figures that are easy to read. You might be able to see well with glasses, but what about when you wake up in the middle of the night and need to know what the time is?
Magnifiers are another item that can make life much easier to handle when you have trouble with your eyes. The great thing about these is that they come in a range of useful sizes and styles. For example, a big magnifying sheet can be ideal if you are at home – for reading a recipe in the kitchen, or looking at a map perhaps. But if you are out and about it isn’t very practical. In this case a small magnifier that can be hung around your neck is often the best solution.
For many people impaired vision aids also encompass the need for good lighting. A fluorescent lamp that can be adjusted and angled to shine exactly where you need it is often invaluable in daily life, particularly during the evenings once the sun goes down.
In cases where vision is particularly bad, talking items are the best option. Talking watches require one press of a button to find out what the time is. Similarly talking clocks are also a great addition to the home.
Impaired vision aids can make all the difference between struggling to see things and not having to worry about them at all. Depending on how bad your vision is you may only need to use one or two things, but it is still good to know there is a lot of support available in this area
