Little Legs for Life...because kids care too!
mobility ideasWhat is Little Legs for Life?
Little Legs for Life is a unique walk/run event for children with no boundaries on age or sex. Little Legs for Life is an amazing event as it gives the local community a platform to encourage child fitness and a community spirit, whilst engaging young children and parents in fundraising and awareness for Cancer Research UK.
The aims of the Little Legs for Life Alcester 2010 are to raise awareness and funding for Cancer Research UK and to bring the community together to have fun.
Many people are aware of the Race for Life events that take place over the country at this time of year. Whilst it is a fantastic event it is limited to females only. Boys are not officially allowed to take part in the Race for Life and younger children find 5km too far, so Little Legs for Life provides a fantastic opportunity for all children to take part and make a difference.
Two Alcester children have bravely organised the childrens version of Race For Life just two months after losing their father to cancer, below is the letter they wrote in hope of your support:
Dear Sir/Madam
We are writing to you today in the hope that you will help support Little Legs for Life Alcester. We recently lost our dad, our Hero, Michael Harry Powell, aged 58 to cancer on Easter Sunday. Me, my sister and my family are organising Little Legs for Life Alcester on July 24th 2010 at Alcester High School. The event is for children of all ages who can walk or run as far as they can to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
We want to organise Little Legs for Life to show we care too and that we also want to help to find a cure for cancer.
We have done lots of work on the event already, telling children at school about it, setting up a face book account and finding a venue. We need your help to make it happen.
You can support us in many ways by donating towards the costs of the event or by offering other support as well. We have put together a list of things that you could help us with and put it with this letter.
By supporting us you will be helping the local community and is an opportunity to promote your business letting people know that you care too. In return for your support we will put your logo and details on the race packs, you could have a stand on the event day and we can also put your banners around the race track.
If you need any further information then please contact our sister, Stacey on 07899 017639 or Sarah on: 01789 764134 or email us on: little-legsalcester@hotmail.co.uk.
We hope you can support us. Together we will beat Cancer.
Best Wishes
Jamie, 13, Jade, 9, and the Powell Family
