On 1 April 2009, Age Concern England and Help the Aged joined together to create a new charity dedicated to improving the lives of older people. Operating under the name 'Age Concern and Help the Aged', we speak with one voice on behalf of all older people.
We work with partners to ensure that together we can improve the lives of older people. On 1 April 2009, the national Age Concerns in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland also joined together with Help the Aged in those countries to create new charities just like ours. And we work closely with the 350 local Age Concerns across England, helping them provide high quality services for older people in the area where they live.

Our objectives
Age Concern and Help the Aged is a single organisation with one clear objective – to make a real difference to the lives of older people. By combining the unique strengths, skills and experience of our two great charities, we have created one united organisation that will be stronger and more influential than ever before.
We will improve the lives of older people by focusing on the following priorities:
• developing excellent and sustainable services that enhance older people’s lives;
• delivering transformational and sustainable change through our research, policy and influencing;
• providing definitive products and services tailored specifically for older people but available to all;
• maximising our reach through our retail estate and quality training services;
• creating a single, powerful compelling brand by 2010;
• becoming a world renowned organisation, reaching out to enhance the lives of older people globally;
• creating an effective partnership with our national and regional networks.
