Mobility Caravan and Camping Sites
mobility ideasThe first thing to recognise is that different sites will be easier to access than others, depending on the actual disability you have. For example, a camping site on a steep hill may present problems if you are wheelchair bound and there are no concrete or solid paths to use.
Mobility caravan and camping sites are available though, so don’t become discouraged if the first one you find isn’t suitable for your needs. It is very important that these sites do everything they can to be accessible to everyone, regardless of whether they have a disability or not. For example you may find that not all areas of a particular venue are easy to access, but many are. You will need to find out as much as you can up front to decide whether that particular park is right for you.
Of course another type of disability is having impaired vision. In this case you may need to know whether there is good lighting at the site so you can see enough to walk safely at night.
Mobility caravan and camping sites also have toilet blocks or similar washroom facilities available for everyone to use. A good point to think about here is that they will have suitable handrails and other aids available that are there for those who need them. Either that or there are dedicated washrooms that have been designed especially for disabled people in mind.
In the end there are going to be a number of questions in mind that you will need answered before you book anything for your holiday. Don’t be afraid to ring any company or site to find out what facilities are available so you can book your holiday with confidence. Mobility caravan and camping sites are a great way to see more of the outdoors, provided they have all the facilities and accessible places you need to really enjoy them.
Could it be your destination for this year’s holiday?
