Walking Frames

mobility ideas
If you have difficulty in walking for any reason it can be hugely beneficial to use a frame of some kind. But this type of frame doesn’t just come in one standard size and shape. There are many different ones and the one you choose will depend on your own needs.

The most basic of all walking frames is the one which does not have any wheels. This will have grips either side to provide a more comfortable experience when using it, and rubber stoppers on the feet to create more stability.

This means you will need to have the strength to be able to pick up the frame each time you take a step forwards however. If you cannot do that you may be better off using a frame which has wheels on it. In this case the wheels will be fitted to the front of the frame, while the rear points have the rubber stoppers as normal. This is much more stable and secure than it would be to use one with wheels on all four corners.

One thing you need to be aware of when you are considering buying one of the many walking frames that are available is the width. They are available in several different sizes and so it is important to try it out before you buy the one you have your eye on.

Another aspect worth considering is the material that the frames are made of. If you find it difficult to pick things up then opt for an aluminium framed one, as it will be light and easy to move around.

You may even be able to get a foldaway frame that is ideal if you are out and about a bit and need some extra support. Walking frames of this nature will be more expensive, but you need to think about how and when you are going to use it above anything else. The extra money you spend now will be well worth it later on.

As you can see, there is more than just one single type of frame available. If you can find out which ones suit you best, you will have a frame that will be useful to you for a long time to come.
